Election Day Special
According to NBC predictions, Republican Greg Abbott will be elected to a third term as governor of Texas,
defeating Democrat Beto O'Rourke.
The second-longest-serving governor in Texas is Abbott.
According to pre-election day polls, Abbott was ahead by 2 to 13 percentage points.
Abbott triumphed in his prior contests in 2014 and 2018 by margins of 20,4% and 13,3%, respectively.
Both candidates worked hard to get their respective parties fired up about topics including
the economy, public safety, the border between the United States and Mexico, and education during the campaign season.
